WHAT IS TRAUMA

Trauma isn't just the event itself, but the response that gets stored in the body. Sometimes this response is disrupted or becomes stuck. Our work focuses on reorganizing this trapped energy so the trauma response can be completed, allowing your physiology to reorganize and helping you feel safer in your body.

Trauma or stress can be developmental—stemming from ongoing childhood experiences—or shock-based, arising from a specific traumatic incident. Both types can greatly hinder a person’s ability to function with resilience and ease.

Trauma may result from a single incident, repeated occurrences, or ongoing circumstances that are physically or emotionally damaging or life-threatening. Such experiences can leave long-lasting negative impacts on mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING™ (SE)

Somatic Experiencing™ (SE) goes beyond typical talk therapy and can offer a different therapeutic experience. Learning how the nervous system supports growth and healing from all types of trauma is an advantage of this modality.

Exploring our biology rather than attaching to the biography of who we are opens us to curiosity about the Nervous System. Nervous System Regulation, or lack of it, comes from our patterns of experience. These patterns may create unnecessary dysregulation. This is typically an overwhelming experience and can feel confusing. By working specifically with YOUR nervous system, we gain an understanding of where you are and where you will go.
